Drop Dead Gorgeous was a completely typical 90s movie. It centres around Denise Richards and Kirsten Dunst battling it out for the title of Mount Rose Minnesota American Teen Princess, a pageant held in a fictional town where the front runners are the bookies choice and the underdog. Typical 90's right? Wrong! What set Drop Dead Gorgeous apart from other chick flicks of the time was that it was actually insanely funny and satirical, using a mockumentary format to poke fun at the bizarre intensity that surrounded American Beauty Pageants at the time and the stereotypical standard of modern western beauty that was being showcased around the world as the new normal. It slowly gained recognition as a cult classic as years passed, mostly due to it's killer funny story line and fantastic comedic performances. It also had a lot of famous faces running through it that some still may not realise to this day, including Brittany Murphy, and a young Amy Adams in her film debut!
