3. Funny Games

In the opening scene of Funny games, Georg, Annie, and their son, Georgie, are driving to their holiday cabin. Suddenly, the tranquil music suddenly switches to deranged screeching, alerting viewers they are in for one hell of a ride.

Shortly after the family arrive, two young men, Paul and Peter, enter the cabin and begin torturing them. What makes these psychopaths so despicable is the fact there's no motive behind their actions. They don't want anything. They just enjoy killing. That's it. This makes their scenes more intense, since the family knows there's nothing they can do to convince the insidious pair to let them go.

One of the most memorable moments is when Annie shoots Peter dead, seemingly getting the upper hand. Suddenly, Paul grabs the remote control and rewinds the scene to the point before Peter was shot. Paul then grabs the gun to stop Annie from killing his partner. This moment is horrifying, because it proves the sociopathic duo are not just in control of the family, but the film itself.

Even though Funny Games is excellent, few people will say they "enjoyed" it, since it leaves viewers feeling uneasy throughout.
