10 Abandoned Movie Sets You Can Visit In Real Life
5. Wallilabou Bay, St. Vincent - Pirates Of The Caribbean
Wallilabou Bay sits on the waterfront on the west coast of St. Vincent in the Caribbean. Long-time Pirates of the Caribbean fans will instantly recognise the site as one of the most important settings in the entire franchise. This gorgeous village appeared to us as Port Royal, as the original city was sunk underwater by a large earthquake just before the turn of the 17th Century.
Originally little more than a fishing stop-over, the area now attracts tourists looking to get in touch with their pirate roots. The area is still decorated with the hallmarks of nautical naughtiness like fake pirate graveyards and prop skeletons.
Tourism packages also lead visitors to other nearby iconic sights like the natural rock arch known as the "Pirate's Arch" (hopefully not the one that featured some hanging pirates from Curse of the Black Pearl). Some facades from the original set still remain, and the local Anchorage hotel also features a collection of props and souvenirs from days gone by.
If you're a fan of the Pirates franchise, or just fancy a trip on the high seas, you should definitely add Wallilabou Bay to your travelling list.
