10 Absolutely Terrible B-Movies That Have Become Cult Classics

5. Hobgoblins

Hobgoblins is basically a low-budget knock-off of movies like Gremlins and Critters. It's supposed to be a comedy, but audiences were laughing for all the wrong reasons. The actual script and story are completely devoid of humour, but the awkward gags and terrible acting help to make Hobgoblins unintentionally hilarious.

The movie follows a group of friends being pursued by the titular hobgoblins - a bunch of Gremlin look-a-like monsters that kill people by bringing their wildest fantasies to life and then turning those dreams into nightmares.

Hoboblins is filled to the brim with the sort of cringe-worthy moments that make good bad films so special and an appearance on Mystery Science Theater 3000 in 1997 propelled the once little-known movie into cult stardom and even helped to fuel a direct-to-DVD sequel. Hobogblins 2, released in 2009, features several tongue-in-cheek jokes about the film's cult status and even a few references to the MST3K episode that helped to make it famous.
