Carrie Henn shot to immediate fame by starring in James Cameron's mammoth sequel to Ridley Scott's sci-fi masterpiece Alien, being billed right next to Sigourney Weaver, starring as her surrogate daughter Newt, a terrified survivor of the Hadley's Hope colony, which was largely laid waste to by the Xenomorphs. Henn gives a sublime performance - all the more impressive because she had no experience - and helped imbue the film with the heart it was sorely in need of. Perhaps realising that she'd captured something really special - or conversely, not wanting to put up with the long hours of acting - Aliens remains her single role, and one that places her in the annals of film history, playing one of sci-fi's most beloved characters. Being a good sport, though, she frequently appears at fan conventions to talk about her experiences on the set. Instead of pursuing acting, she decided to read Liberal Studies and Child Development at California State University in 2000, and now works as a teacher.
