10 Actor/Director Team-Ups We Can't Believe Never Happened

7. Alfred Hitchcock And Marilyn Monroe

Marilyn Monroe Alfred Hitchcock Alfred Hitchcock loved him some blondes, that we all know. So it's odd that Hitchcock's attentions never turned to the cinema's ultimate movie blonde, Marilyn Monroe. Monroe was notoriously difficult to work with, sure, but when were actors - whom Hitch said should be treated like "cattle" - ever any trouble for the director? Hitchcock did once dismiss the Marilyn Monroe "type" as sexually "obvious," but maybe he could've revealed hitherto unforeseen depths in Monroe, as he did with Grace Kelly. Hitch may have flippantly dismissed the Marilyn type, but Monroe as an actress had not just the requisite sexuality, but the vulnerability that he craved in his blondes. As they both reached the height of their powers in the 1950s, it's amazing their paths never crossed.
