Will Poulter is a great actor whose career has largely been defined by playing characters you wouldn't deem the least bit physically imposing.

But that's all set to change in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, as he's packed on a ton of muscle to play the genetically engineered "perfect" being Adam Warlock.

Though there was some initial hand-wringing about the relatively slender Poulter playing such a statuesque character, Poulter took to social media shortly before shooting began and proved his haters wrong, rocking one hell of a ridiculously chiseled physique.

And while we've caught only a brief official glimpse of his Adam Warlock in the superhero threequel's first trailer, it certainly looks a wild step up from anything he's ever done before.

Considering the popularity of the character and Gunn's incredible knack for delivering brilliant interpretations of the comics, there's every possibility that Poulter becomes the show-stealing reason to see the movie.

He's come a long way from playing Eustace Scrubb in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, that's for sure.
