10 Actors About To Play Hugely Against Type

8. Ben Affleck As King Charles VI - The Last Duel

From the next Batman to the former Batman, Ben Affleck has certainly been racking up a number of interesting post-superhero projects.

Following his incredible performance in the recent drama The Way Back, Affleck will appear in Ridley Scott's upcoming historical drama The Last Duel.

The story takes place in 14th century France, with Jean de Carrouges (Matt Damon) and Jacques Le Gris (Adam Driver) ordered to fight to the death after the former accuses the latter of raping his wife, Marguerite (Jodie Comer).

Affleck will meanwhile play the supporting role of King Charles VI, marking his first ever foray into medieval period fare, requiring him to don a bright blonde wig and beard, and presumably spit a French accent.

As terrific an actor as Affleck is, he may simply be too visibly Ben Affleck to convince as the mad French King, though given Scott's prior successes in the genre, perhaps we shouldn't be so hasty.

Either way, it's a bold career move for the actor, and one which is already drumming up Best Supporting Actor Oscar rumblings - if he can pull it off.
