When most of us think of Cate Blanchett, we think of her literally dozens of performances playing classily restrained yet fascinatingly relatable characters.

But news broke recently that she's in advanced talks to play fan favourite character Lilith in Eli Roth's upcoming adaptation of the hit video game series Borderlands.

To be clear, Lilith isn't just red-haired and tattooed: she's a fiery, unpredictable agent of chaos and pretty much the last sort of character audiences would ever expect Blanchett to play - especially given that the actress is about 20 years older than Lilith's approximate age.

Though the Oscar-winning actress previously collaborated with Roth on his family-friendly romp The House with a Clock in Its Walls, seeing Blanchett cracking wise while kitted out in Lilith's provocative duds will be nothing if not a sight to see.
