10 Actors And Directors Who Absolutely Hated Each Other

Film: Boogie Nights

Boogie Nights is a bona fide Paul Thomas Anderson classic. Only his second feature film, the period porn drama was nominated for 32 awards (including three Oscars).

Of those 32, more than ten of them went to the late, great Burt Reynolds, who portrayed pornographic filmmaker, Jack Horn. He won eight awards for his performance (not including ensemble awards), including a Golden Globe. With all that acclaim, you'd think he would've looked back on this film fondly, right?

Wrong!

The truth is that Reynolds never wanted to be involved with the film, at all. The lewd subject matter made him uncomfortable, and he only agreed to join when Anderson promised him an Oscar nomination (which he got). The on-set friction was palpable, though. Reynolds was apparently agitated by Anderson's cocky, arrogant demeanor (something to which Anderson has since admitted), and would cut Anderson off at the knees every time the director showed pride in one of his shots.

After watching a rough cut, Reynolds fired his agent. He later admitted to never watching the finished product all the way through. He refused to work with Anderson again, saying that he hated the film and hated collaborating with him.
