10 Actors Fired From Harry Potter
6. Verne Troyer - Griphook
With the folks behind the Harry Potter series making it their mission to assemble arguably the greatest collection of British thespians ever to grace the cinema screen over the course of that mainline story, this specific casting requirement did actually leave acting titans from across the pond, such as Robin Williams, for example, on the outside looking in when it came time to select the folks for the fictional magical faces.
However, there was actually an American who did manage to sneak into the picture in the end, with Austin Power's Verne Troyer physically embodying the role of Griphook, the formidable Gringotts banker, in The Philosopher's Stone. Yet, when Griphook eventually found his way back into the spotlight by the time of The Deathly Hallows: Part I, Troyer was nowhere to be seen. Instead, David Yates decided that the role would be better suited to the original voice of the character and also Professor Flitwick actor, Warwick Davis.
Though it came at Troyer's expense, Davis was positively overjoyed to be given a chance to add more depth to a Potter character after feeling as though he wasn't able to achieve that whilst working as Flitwick in the films.
