10 Actors Not Returning For Upcoming Sequels

This is a weird one and may prove a little unfortunate when the film itself comes together soon. A young Meg Ryan had a relatively minor role to play as Goose’s wife in Tony Scott’s iconic Tom Cruise vehicle Top Gun in 1986, so it’s understandable that the since mega-famous star declined the opportunity to reprise one of her less memorable onscreen moments.

However, early reports indicate that not only will much of the original cast return, among them stars such as Val Kilmer, but Goose’s son will play a pivotal role in the sequel. Miles Teller will play the ill-fated pilot’s offspring, so we here at WhatCulture guess only time will tell how the film handles the absence of his mom from the story despite Maverick and Iceman’s relationship with her in the original.

A lot of approaches could potentially work, just as long as we’re not told she befell the same fate as her late husband offscreen at some point between the films.
