10 Actors Not Returning For Upcoming Sequels

5. Lauren Cohan - Brahms: The Boy 2

The Boy was a surprise success when it was released in 2016, another feather in Jason Blum’s cap as it was added to Blumhouse’s rapidly growing catalogue of crowd-pleasing horrors. Did it hinge on a ludicrous twist which would not possibly accommodate a sequel?

Sure it did, but that’s never stopped an intrepid producer before, and the Jordan Peele-championing studio recently saw fit to put together a follow up for early 2020 (an infamously iffy release time for already-delayed horror releases, but that’s another story).

Declining to return is Lauren Cohan, replaced by Katie Holmes as a young mother whose son becomes unhealthily obsessed with the titular doll. It’s a pretty understandable call, given that it’s doubtful Cohan’s character would be willing to go within a hundred feet of the little creep after surviving her last encounter with him.
