8. Sofia Boutella - Hawkgirl

If there is one thing that the DC universe has over Marvel, it’s that it beat them to the punch when it came to female-led films. But if DC look to expand their roster of heroes even further Hawkgirl could pose a promising addition to the roster.

Depending on which origin you are a fan of, Shiera Hal is either an alien or a reincarnated demi-goddess from ancient Egypt with a badass mace and a fancy set of wings, but Hawkgirl’s appearance in the Justice League animated series proved that the character could combine both origins into one arc if necessary, providing future DCEU instalments with healthy doses of heroism mixed with star-crossed love, betrayal, and planet invasions.

Now The Mummy was not the last word in terms of quality, but Sofia Boutella still earned praise for her performance as the titular Egyptian monster. Boutella has credible history playing more action-orientated roles, which could make her Hawkgirl an interesting physical rival for Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman as the two characters have clashed at times in the comics, and also would add increased diversity to the expanding roster thanks to her mixed-north African heritage.
