Zachary Levi has a bit of a casting history with Fandral. He was originally meant to play the character in the first Thor film, but after Chuck was extended from 13 to 19 episodes during season three, he had to drop out and was replaced with Joshua Dallas. This experience was reversed for Thor: The Dark World, as Dallas dropped out due to conflicts with his filming schedule on Once Upon A Time, opening the door for Levi once more. The problem? Well, Levi is an actor with an excellent sense of comic timing and much experience in action sequences, and it wouldn't be hard to imagine that he could have been able to give Chris Pratt a real run for his money the role of Guardian of the Galaxy's Peter Quill/Star Lord. There aren't many actors who would have been a natural fit for the character (and indeed, we're yet to see Chris Pratt in action properly), but Levi certainly would have been capable of pulling off the role. Fandral is a misuse of Levis talents in this regard. Granted, he might get a few comedic moments, but the star of the show in any Thor film is always going to be Thor himself - Levi simply wont get the screen time he deserves playing a character like this. Plus, the way things are looking now, the Warriors Three are never going to get their own spin-off film, either. The best that can be hoped, then, is that Levi gets to make an appearance for an episode or two in Agents of SHIELD... but even that seems unlikely until Thor 3 comes out. These are just a sample of the cast members in small roles that could have easily been used for something bigger and better. Do you agree? Do you think anyone else has received the same treatment, and do you think that any of those on this list could still be used in a major capacity by the MCU? Let us know in the comments section below.
