10 Actors That Were Totally Wasted In The Marvel Cinematic Universe

10. William Sadler - President Matthew Ellis - Iron Man 3

William Sadler is an incredibly talented actor, and one who could have been granted a far meatier role in the MCU to enable him to showcase his abilities. Sadler is well-known for his work in the science fiction genre, having had major parts in Roswell and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and guest spots on shows like Medium and Fringe. Still, he's best known, perhaps, for his roles in two legendary films: as Heywood in The Shawshank Redemption, and as the Grim Reaper in Bill and Ted€™s Bogus Journey (for which he won a Saturn Award). In Iron Man 3, then, Sadler plays the President of the United States, a role which he should be expected to reprise if that President pops up in any future Marvel films. This might result in him being a major villain in the future or perhaps simply a significant ally of the Avengers. If Tony Stark ever becomes Secretary of Defence in these films, then the President will have to return. And if he doesn't... well... then they really should have used Sadler a great deal better! Because he could have just as easily played Robert Redford€™s part in the latest Captain America, or any sort of villain along those lines, instead of a bland President character with pretty much nothing to define him. Check out Sadler's Deep Space Nine role if you remain unconvinced with regards to his talents - he demonstrates his capabilities to play that sort of character standing on his head. Still, it's entirely possible that Sadler's President has a bigger part to play, so we'll just have to wait and see.
