5. Idris Elba - Heimdall - Thor & Thor: The Dark World
Idris Elba is one of those actor who possesses more gravitas in his little finger than most people have in their entire bodies. He has one of those voices and a demeanour with the ability to stop traffic; he would have been brilliant in any number of roles within the Marvel Universe, given his talents. So naturally he was instead cast as Heimdall - a character who is always going to be something of a bit part, even if he looks set to appear in every single Thor film. The most prominent character that he could have portrayed, of course, would have been that of the Black Panther Kevin Feige has said that Marvel are actively seeking to develop a film on the comic book character, after all. With rumours abound that the next Avengers film will see Ultron seeking out Vibranium, Black Panther and Wakanda could turn up sooner than later. That considered, it would be fairly easy to have a Black Panther cameo in the Age of Ultron and then spin out a new film from that, right? But Elba's appearances as Heimdall have taken him completely out of the picture when it comes to the Black Panther casting, which is majorly disappointing, given that he could have really brought something to the role. The fans favourite casting as a result of Elba's incapacity seems to be Chiwetel Ejiofor, who must be considering himself lucky that Elba has taken a part in the MCU already.
