After first coming to prominence with a supporting part in Field Of Dreams, Ray Liotta scored a career-making role as Henry Hill in Martin Scorsese classic Goodfellas. Giving a brilliant performance in what is now regarded as one of the greatest movies ever made, the actor seemed poised to rocket to the top of the Hollywood A-list. Unfortunately, 25 years later it still remains his defining role, which has led to a career that has seen the actor generally typecast as charming and intense psychopaths. You would think that the critical and commercial success of Goodfellas would have led to the busiest period of Liotta's career, but in fact he has been at his most prolific over the last decade. Since 2005, Liotta has appeared in nearly 50 movies, with seventeen of them coming between 2011 and 2012, the majority seeing the actor remain firmly in his wheelhouse character-wise While there have been several memorable performances since his breakout role as Henry Hill in movies like Cop Land, Narc and The Place Beyond The Pines, the majority of Liotta's filmography is littered with cameos that send up his onscreen persona and a string of terrible straight-to-video genre movies. Liotta appeared in seven movies last year and has another four coming up in 2015, so at least he's keeping himself busy. However, based on the overall quality of his work, it seems that he signs on to so many projects for the same reason he voiced the lead character in Grant Theft Auto: Vice City; for the money.
I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
