Morgan Freeman has lent his dulcet tones to over 100 projects in both film and television during a distinguished career, and the 77 year-old is undoubtedly one of the most popular stars in the business. The actor has starred in a massive number of box office hits and Hollywood blockbusters over the years, and frequently takes roles that play up to the long-running 'Morgan Freeman shows up to explain the plot' joke. When you have one of the most iconic speaking voices in cinema, you're also going to get asked to do a lot of narration; a role that the actor has taken on in The Shawshank Redemption, War Of The Worlds, The Love Guru, the Conan remake and the English-language version of March Of The Penguins. If a studio movie needs someone to deliver exposition with real gravitas, they hire Morgan Freeman; just in the last few years the actor has taken on such duties in The Dark Knight Trilogy, Wanted, Oblivion, Olympus Has Fallen, Now You See Me, Transcendence and Lucy. The actor has appeared in at least two movies a year since 2002, but not all of them have been great, many have gone straight-to-video and more than a few have been pretty awful. Although there is no denying that Freeman has appeared in plenty of all-time classic movies, his last genuinely brilliant performance came back in 2004 with Million Dollar Baby. At this point in his career with legendary status well and truly secured, Freeman is comfortable with essentially playing the same wizened old mentor/authority figure in almost every movie that he's in.
I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
