10 Actors Totally Wasted In 2021 Movies

7. Gary Oldman - The Woman In The Window

Venom 2
Netflix

On the surface, having Gary Oldman re-team with the director responsible for helming the picture that finally delivered him an Academy Award with Darkest Hour looked like a recipe for yet another success.

However, it soon became apparent that this star-studded psychological thriller hadn't been crafted with the same level of skill and attention as that aforementioned Oscar darling. Frequently lacking in pace or any form of intrigue, the few moments that the likes of Oldman, Julianne Moore, Wyatt Russell, and Jennifer Jason Leigh do make their presence known alongside an increasingly anxious and paranoid Amy Adams does make for entertaining viewing. It's just a shame they're all disappointingly fleeting beats and sometimes fun for all the wrong reasons.

Again, Oldman's lack of any real substance or screen-time in the flick acts as the biggest missed opportunity of the whole feature, with it very much feeling like the actor had been roped in as nothing more than a favour to Wright. In short, this limp turn can be summed up as nothing more than a bit of a waste of the star's time that unfortunately edges on the side of hammy on occasion.
