10 Actors Who Almost Starred In 2017's Biggest Movies

Nicole Kidman had a great year (for once), what with excellent turns in arty horror flick The Killing of a Sacred Deer, Sofia Coppola's remake of The Beguiled, and a phenomenal performance in TV's Big Little Lies. As if that wasn't enough, there was also a brief window of opportunity that might have made this actor's year even better, because she very nearly played a role in Wonder Woman.

Wonder Woman has been called one of the year's best films, and one of the best superhero movies ever, so it's a shame that Kidman did indeed miss out on a chance to play Hippolyta, Amazonian warrior queen, due to scheduling conflicts.

Though Kidman was originally meant to take the role, the dates didn't work out and she had no choice but to exit the production. The role ended up going to Danish actress Connie Nielsen instead, who did an admittedly admirable job.

Would It Have Been Any Good?

Kidman is rarely bad in anything, and so this would've likely proven fine - especially since she has the weight of a huge star, and therefore would have leant that weight to playing a respected queen.

Kidman has since been cast in the Aquaman movie, however, as Queen Atlanna, which will offer up the same acting opportunities.
