10 Actors Who Are About To Make A Huge Comeback
8. Adam Sandler - The Meyerowitz Stories
Adam Sandler is still churning out movies, due to that infernal deal with Netflix that gives him the right to create whatever the hell he wants, but they're all so crass and unfunny that they're of little interest to most people. In other words, Adam Sandler is in desperate need of a critical comeback.
And it's upcoming drama/comedy The Meyerowitz Stories that might just be the film to do it, given how well it has been received by critics on the festival circuit and how well Sandler has been praised for his lead performance. In the film, which also stars Ben Stiller, Dustin Hoffman, and Emma Thompson, Sandler plays Danny Meyerowitz, one member of the titular family who reunite to comic effect.
The film is directed by Noah Baumbach, who seems to have engineered the movie on the basis that it gives the critics something positive to say about Adam Sandler (similar to what Judd Apatow did when he tried to rescue the comedian's career with Funny People, though that turned out to be an admirable failure).
A release date it yet to be announced, but the positive buzz suggests that this'll be another "good" Sandler film to place alongside Punch-Drunk Love.
