Not much needs to be said about Robert Redford, the man who has two Academy Awards for lifetime achievement and directing respectively, the man who founded the Sundance Film Festival and the so-called godfather of the indie film. His name is held in the highest regard in cinema, and remains a legend in the business.

Redford started his career in the early 60s before making it really big as the Sundance Kid in the western classic “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.” He had a prolific acting career and decided to expand his talents by moving behind the camera and into directing and producing.

He then directed a masterpiece with “Ordinary People” in 1980. It was here he would take home the best director Oscar at the 53rd Academy awards, in his directorial debut no less.
