10 Actors Who Became Unlikely Action Movie Stars

7. Michael Cera - Scott Pilgrim Vs The World

To this day, it's still hilarious to think of this awkward and introverted performer acting as the leading figure of an action flick. This is why Scott Pilgrim worked so well, as it played with the perception you had of Michael Cera and flipped it on its head, successfully reflecting the idea that in this quirky comic-book world, he could be the action star.

The movie is an entertaining ride, and Cera works well in the titular role. Throughout the plot - in which the titular Scott is forced to fight each of his girlfriend's evil exes - he pulls in some incredibly believable performances. He comes across looking like a capable fighter, despite his perceived awkwardness.

Part of what made this possible was that Cera worked really hard to perform as much of the choreography as possible. This helped the director - Edgar Wright - to entirely focus on him in the heat of the action and made the Arrested Development star the centre of every sequence.

While it isn't a conventional action film, this movie was able to paint Cera in a far more physically impressive light.
