10 Actors Who Begged For Their Character NOT To Die

9. Michael B. Jordan - The Wire

Though he's known now as being one Hollywood's hottest stars with his leading roles in Creed and Black Panther, Michael B. Jordan's beginnings in the world of entertainment kicked off with The Wire.

Despite only being fifteen when cast to play the role, Jordan put in very little preparation prior to his first scene as Wallace and instead called upon his own personal experiences growing up on the streets Newark as a means of directing his performance.

Wallace is a very intelligent, if slightly idealistic young man who gets increasingly wrapped up in the world of drug dealing. He instantly became a real fans favourite with his sharp wits and selfless nature, particularly towards the other young members of The Pit gang.

However, his popularity would prove to be the thing that led to him being killed off by show producer David Simon. In probably the most unexpected and gut-wrenching moments across the entire show's runtime, Wallace is killed off in his own home by Bodie and Poot on Stringer Bell's orders.

Jordan was only told about Wallace's death one week before his final scene was shot, with Simon saying that the story always came before the character. Jordan was not best pleased, mirroring his character in asking the producers if there was any way Wallace would be able to come out of the showdown alive, before going as far as to tell his family not to appear on set the day his death was planned.
