Bill Murray’s appearance in Zombieland is easily one of the most memorable cameos in memory. Brought in last minute to fill a role that was either going to go to Patrick Swayze or Mark Hamill, but Murray brought the laughs in spades.

Initially however, the role was just for an actor to appear as a zombified version of themselves. Murray took the part only if he could flesh out the character a bit and have some dialogue.

After some brainstorming, the writers decided Bill would play dress up as a zombie, with Murray enthusiastically accepting. He even preferred being killed on screen.

He was even brought back in the sequel in a nice little post-credits scene – once again making fun of his life’s greatest regret, Garfield.
