Why He Might: It's incredibly easy to see why Game of Thrones and The Bodyguard star Richard Madden has been a hot bookies' favourite for years.
He's got one hell of a chiselled jaw, looks great in a suit, and like Dan Stevens has proven himself a strong performer in both serious dramatic work and lighter comedic fare.
At 35 years of age, he's basically in the ideal spot if the film started shooting a few years from now, and being a Scottish native, many would no doubt find his casting a fitting nod to Sean Connery's inaugural tenure as 007.
Why He Might Not: Fame can often edge an actor out unintentionally.
Though his role on Game of Thrones ended long enough ago that he no longer carries its baggage around, his part in the upcoming MCU movie Eternals could bring him the visibility that Barbara Broccoli tends to avoid when casting Bond.
