Yahya Abdul-Mateen II's rise has been swift, with him first making waves as Cadillac Caldwell in Netflix's musical series, The Get Down. He recently made quite the impression as Cal Abar/Dr. Manhattan in HBO's SPECTACULAR Watchmen miniseries. If you haven't seen it, please - for your own sake - watch it now. You deserve it.
Of course, he played Black Manta in Aquaman, and will likely reprise the role in the sequel. He was in The Trial of the Chicago Seven on Netflix; he's set to star in the upcoming Candyman reboot; and we'll see him in the fourth Matrix film, in which he's speculated to be playing a young Morpheus.
Black Panther would be a nice addition to that résumé.
