If Marvel wanted to get a popular actor to fill this role, they could make fair use of Michael Fassbender. As one of the most well-regarded presences in the industry, he would be a logical casting choice. The actor may have made a lot of his name by playing Magneto but could take on this new role and make it his own.

Fassbender is a very interesting actor. He has a sophistication and elegance about him that is always compelling to watch. This combined with his strong ability to appear intimidating and malevolent makes him an actor who is believable as an antagonist.

He has proven in the past to be very versatile. While being a master of more reserved performances, he's also prone to the theatrical - two qualities that perhaps best exemplify Doom.
