10 Actors Who Could Play Green Goblin In The MCU
8. Alan Cumming
If you're looking for an actor with experience performing as The Green Goblin, then Alan Cumming is one of the closest you'll get to after Willem Dafoe. His connection to the role came through the disastrous Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark Broadway show, as he was initially slated to play the part. However, he had to drop out due to a scheduling conflict, and it's safe to say he dodged a bullet there.
However, while he didn't end up playing the role, it is easy to see why he'd be given it. Although his performances can often fall into the cartoonish (just look at Boris from Goldeneye or Loki from Son of the Mask), he's a very talented character actor who can be frightfully right in superhero movies. His performance as Nightcrawler in X-Men 2 is still beloved, so he's got the right momentum going in.
Cumming would be a very unconventional choice, as while his over-the-top and wild performance as The Green Goblin would work perfectly, he wouldn't be as intimidating as Norman Osborn, thanks to his friendly face. However, rejecting convention has been a big part of the Sony/Marvel Spider-Man movies. So, he might be right up their alley.
