As stated in the last entry, the Sony/Marvel Spidey flicks have worked hard to twist the traditional Spider-Man canon. Aunt May is much younger, Flash Thompson is a petite geek rather than a massive jock, and MJ doesn't even stand for Mary Jane anymore; it's now Michelle Jones. Thanks to that, it wouldn't be difficult to expect them to pull out a big swerve like this.
If Sony/Marvel were to decide to change Norman Osborn by hiring a female actor, then Jennifer Connelly would be an effortless choice. She is an enthralling actor who often impresses in darker roles and even has experience in villainy - such as in Snowpiercer and Alita: Battle Angel. Her intimidating manner and emotional variety could capture the dual sense of strength and instability that Osborn requires.
Plus, she even has experience in this same franchise, having played the role of Karen (better known as Suit-Lady) in Spider-Man: Homecoming. So naturally, as a disembodied voice, it might have slipped past you, but that's precisely why she deserves another go in an MCU movie.
