Gugu is a significant star on the rise, and a prominent role like this could help her become a household name. She is excellent at bringing nuance to her characters, and as of yet hasn't played the most villainous of roles. However, this is a side many would love to see from her, especially as she is so good at making her characters confident and assertive.
This actor has had significant roles in great projects, with some of her most notable performances being the titular character in Belle, Kelly in Black Mirror San Junipero, and Prema in Concussion. She dazzled in each of these roles, catching everyone's eye and stealing all of the scenes she was in. This all eyes on me energy would be well-suited to the incredibly charming villain.
Additionally, she walks a fine line between comedy and severity which would work superbly for the character. As shown in her Black Mirror part and role in the stage play Nell Gwynn, Mbatha-Raw can be incredibly sharp and quick-witted, which could help keep the goofier side of Ivy alive in Reeves' overtly severe Gotham.
