Often dismissed as being too similar to Heath Ledger, Caleb Landry Jones made the whole world sit up on end (with the hairs on the neck doing the same) in Get Out. At that moment there wasn't a single man in Hollywood playing insidious evil as well as that.

A slew of awards nominations followed, as again they did for his performance in Three Billboards Outside Epping, Missouri, but since then he's fallen gradually into a melting pot of middle-of-the-road drama films and the immensely weird zombie mess that was The Dead Don't Die. He needs a breakout role of his own and bringing a darker side to the Joker than we've ever seen before would certainly do just that.

Being the Joker takes more than having a creepy smile, but you'll never pull off the role without one. Jones would have a lot of other work to do to prove to people he was the right man to get the part, but in so far as the grin goes, there are few better qualified.
