10 Actors Who Could Play The Next James Bond
8. Henry Cavill
Henry Cavill's got the hunk vibes, the charming English accent, and is no stranger to roles that contain espionage and action. Amongst his CV is roles in Mission Impossible, The Man from U.N.C.L.E and most recently, Argylle. With that in mind, it's no surprise that Cavill is often discussed as a clear favourite to play 007. But if it's that much of a 'sure thing' fit, why isn't it a no-brainer?
Well, while Cavill would be an easy fit for the audience, it's sort of like that nice t-shirt you've worn time and time again. You kinda forget whether it's stylish or not. It's just practical and less thinking is involved. Sure, Cavill would probably do a fine job as Bond, but you know exactly what you're going to get. Even from the image above, you know what Cavill would even look like! For some that might be seen as comfortable, a sure thing, but isn't it just a little uninspiring?
For a film series that constantly feels like it's being questioned as to whether it's modernised enough, this would be seen as a very simple, non-threatening, low-risk casting. It'd be fine. But fine isn't always great. And that's not to knock Cavill - he's a fine actor and very capable of taking on roles that come under huge scrutiny. He's been both Superman and Sherlock Holmes!
It's more that, potentially, there are other options that provide a little more risk and, therefore, greater levels of excitement.
