10 Actors Who Could Ruin Upcoming Movies

8. The Weeknd - Hurry Up Tomorrow

Hurry Up Tomorrow is the new film from Trey Edward Shults (It Comes at Night, Waves), a musical psychological thriller starring singer-songwriter The Weeknd as a fictionalised version of himself - an insomniac musician on the verge of a mental breakdown who enters the orbit of a mysterious stranger, Anima (Jenna Ortega).

Though there's no doubting the talent of filmmaker Shults nor Jenna Ortega, casting The Weeknd in the lead role is a huge, huge gamble.

After all, his performance in HBO's controversial TV series The Idol was widely panned by critics, so it's honestly surprising to see him being given another shot at acting, let alone headlining a $20 million movie opposite one of the most popular rising actresses of the 2020s and an acclaimed indie filmmaker.

While the trailer for Hurry Up Tomorrow does a great job selling its chaotic mood, there's the very reasonable concern that The Weeknd could give a dire performance which just drags the whole thing down.
