10 Actors Who Didn't Understand Their Own Movie

8. Brad Pitt - The Devil's Own

Back in 1997, Brad Pitt starred alongside Harrison Ford in a film called The Devil's Own, and it's not one the star looks back on with a great deal of pride. The movie was panned by critics, and filming was difficult due to massive script rewrites, which left the cast wondering what to do.

Pitt went on a publicity tour for the film, and while most actors spend that time trying to get people to see their movies, Pitt did the exact opposite. Just eight weeks before the movie was to arrive in theaters, Pitt said the following in an interview with Newsweek:

"We had no script. Well, we had a great script, but it got tossed for various reasons. To have to make something up as you go along—Jesus, what pressure! It was ridiculous. It was the most irresponsible bit of filmmaking—if you can even call it that—that I've ever seen."

Given that amount of trouble, it's no wonder Pitt had a hard time keeping up with what was going on. He later retracted his statement, likely due to pressure from his agent and the filmmakers, but he seemed confident in his words when he spoke them a couple of months before The Devil's Own hit theaters.
