While most audiences may remember Natalie Portman for the Star Wars and Thor franchises, she has proven highly versatile when reaching into other genres.

At the young age of twelve, Portman made her debut in 1994's Leon: The Professional. Alongside Jean Reno, she proved surprisingly adept at tackling a complicated and emotional subject matter. Early on, she was able to deliver a performance that put her in the spotlight.

Once the Star Wars prequels came along in 1999, the actress was able to land a major role as Padme Amidala. Unfortunately for Portman, thanks to the trilogy's wooden direction, her performance was heavily criticised alongside the rest of the cast. This was especially true for Attack of the Clones, which featured some of the most stilted romantic dialogue in movie history.

Following the conclusion of the prequels, Portman was able to return to high status in V for Vendetta and Black Swan. Both productions featured emotionally intense performances from the actress which quickly regained the acclaim she had before. Nowadays, with films like Jackie and Annihilation, she has maintained a solid output.
