10 Actors Who Had Incredible Career Revivals
1. Robin Wright
Considering Robin Wright’s legendary performances in 1987’s
The Princess Bride and 1994’s Forrest Gump, it’s easy to forget that the gap
between such phenomenal films and her career-defining role in House of Cards is
practically an empty void.
Prior to House of Cards’ breaking onto the scene, Wright’s most memorable performance had been way back in 2000 in Unbreakable; a film in which her character was far from a scene stealer. Wright’s filmography throughout the 2000s is full of small, unsuccessful endeavours, with not a single leading, small or cameo role in any prominent films until two supporting roles in both Moneyball and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo in 2011 began to put her back into the spotlight.
Then when 2013 hit, Wright’s career was truly revived. Her role as Claire Underwood in House of Cards has won her a Golden Globe, as well as garnered a subsequent Globe nomination and two Emmy award nominations. She served as the sole star of the show in its final season as well as executive producer and director of a number of episodes.
Wright made her superhero movie debut in Wonder Woman in 2017, and will reprise her role as General Antiope in Wonder Woman 1984 next year.
