10 Actors Who Had Incredible Career Revivals
2. Michael Keaton
With career-defining turns in the late 80s and early 90s as Beetlejuice and Batman himself, it seemed like Michael Keaton was a lasting A-lister in the making.
While Keaton worked in a range of genres throughout the later 90s and the 2000s, he found little critical and commercial success, his career prospects truly taking a dive.
Beyond his role in Jackie Brown in 1997, it would be almost twenty years until any of Keaton’s performances truly made a splash in Hollywood again. He almost had another iconic role under his belt when cast as the lead Jack Shepard in LOST, though he withdrew from the show once it was expanded to be a series regular role.
Then, out of nowhere, in 2014 Birdman stole the awards season show, taking home the Best Picture Oscar and giving Keaton his first Academy Award nomination. He starred in back-to-back Best Picture winners, as 2015’s Spotlight’s win catapulted him even further back onto the scene. Keaton went on to join the MCU as Vulture in Spider-Man: Homecoming and lent his voice to 2015’s Minions.
