10 Actors Who Hated Their Own Movies

5. Dakota Johnson Won't Make A Movie Like Madame Web Again

Without doubt one of the biggest big screen failures of 2024, the people involved with making it even struggled to find anything positive to say about Madame Web.

Containing terrible dialogue, dodgy special effects, and even being labelled "the worst comic book movie" yet, Sony's Spider-Man Universe tale centred around the titular superhero who can see into the future earned largely negative reviews when it arrived in theatres.

And that's something that didn't really surprise Cassie Web herself, Dakota Johnson.

As she'd tell Bustle in the wake of its release, not only was Johnson not surprised by critics and audiences' reaction to the awful movie, she also felt she wouldn't do anything like Madame Web again "because I don't make sense in that world".

The fact the Fifty Shades of Grey star would also admit that "sometimes in this industry, you sign on to something, and it’s one thing and then as you’re making it, it becomes a completely different thing, and you’re like, Wait, what?" suggests that the Madame Web fans eventually saw wasn't quite the one the actor had agreed to make when first signing on the dotted line.

Sure, Johnson didn't exactly enjoy being a part of a project that was so mercilessly blasted by viewers. However, her words of "but I can’t say that I don’t understand," and comments on art not doing well "when it’s made by committee," both hint at the star also not really liking what eventually swung into cinemas.
