10 Actors Who Hated Working On James Bond Movies
4. Pierce Brosnan
Irish-born actor Pierce Brosnan was the Bond of the 90s: he was suave, sophisticated with a rugged look that matched the character with a 21st-century bravado. It’s just a shame that, bar Goldeneye, the Bond movies he was cast in never lived up to that high again, and it definitely took a toll on the actor. Throughout his career, he felt that his James Bond was never good enough, and to this day he hates watching himself as 007.
In an 2014 interview, Brosnan revealed “I felt I was caught in a time warp between Roger and Sean. It was a very hard one to grasp the meaning of, for me. The violence was never real, the brute force of the man was never palpable. It was quite tame, and the characterization didn’t have a follow-through of reality, it was surface."
Sadly, Brosnan never shook the career image that James Bond had given him. Shame, really, as Goldeneye proved that Brosnan had the acting chops for sophisticated action movies, it’s just the downfall of late 90s/early 2000s James Bond movies that destroyed what his career could have been.
