10 Actors Who Hated Working On Star Wars

4. Ahmed Best (Jar Jar Binks)

Much like Jake Lloyd, Jar Jar Binks performer Ahmed Best became an actor upon which fans could hang their misgivings with The Phantom Menace, and similarly suffered immensely as a result.

Due to the overwhelming criticism of Jar Jar as a character, that he literalised the prequel trilogy's tendency towards excess visual effects gimmicks and atrocious humour, Best stated that he felt his career was over:

"It’s really difficult to articulate the feeling... You feel like a success and a failure at the exact same time. I was staring at the end of my career before it started."

Best later admitted that he even considered committing suicide as a result of the intense backlash to both the character and his performance.

Of course like Jake Lloyd, Best wasn't remotely to blame and simply performing a part which was ill-conceived by Lucas from the ground-up.

Thankfully online sentiment towards Best has skewed far more sympathetic in recent years, especially after he spoke out about the effect it had on his psyche.
