10 Actors Who Have Become Badass Directors

6. Clark Gregg

At this point, Clark Gregg has become synonymous with Phil Coulson. The actor first portrayed the MCU SHIELD Agent in a supporting role in 2008's Iron Man. Originally a bit part without a name, the character became so popular that the writers brought him back for Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain Marvel, and The Avengers, in which he met his untimely demise at the hands of Loki.

Even death couldn't stop Phil Coulson, as Marvel brought him back, this time in a leading role, for the spinoff series Agents of SHIELD. After five seasons, however, Coulson died again.

Gregg's character's death didn't mean the end of his time on the show, as Season 6 introduced Sarge, a doppelganger of Coulson, and brought in the actor to direct the season premiere. He also directed the episode Fun & Games in Season 5, a well as the feature film Trust Me.

And, of course, Season 6 ends with the team bringing Coulson back again, so we haven't seen the last of him yet.
