10 Actors Who Have Become Parodies Of Themselves

5. Michael Cera

CeraKnown For: Playing awkward young men in a variety of projects, ranging from George Michael Bluth in Arrested Development, to Superbad, and then to Juno also. Some argue that Cera has become typecast because of his refusal to steer away from that sort of role. The Parody: Given that Cera the actor and the characters he plays seem so similar, Cera has in fact parodied himself in a number of subtle ways on-screen. In Youth in Revolt, for instance, he plays a socially awkward teen who creates a sociopathic alter ego for himself, and in Scott Pilgrim, he plays a hipster who is thoroughly sent-up by way of Edgar Wright's sly satire on the whole subculture. Then, of course, we can't forget his show-stealing turn in This Is the End, playing a drug-addled, obnoxious version of himself who everybody else hates. At least Cera appears to be an actor who is well aware of when he is parodying himself.
