10 Actors Who Haven't Given A Good Movie Performance In Over A Decade

8. Dustin Hoffman

Another actor defying his age (he€™s 78), Dustin Hoffman can€™t even really say he has anything mildly interesting on his filmography since €™05 - nothing that might€™ve misfired but had potential anyway (maybe Barney€™s Version , although I thought that massively overrated). Instead, Hoffman has spent the last decade pulling voice performances (the Kung Fu Pandas: €™08, €˜11), reprising old, dead roles (Little Fockers, 2010), and starring in mawkish, old-age comi-dramas (Last Chance Harvey, 2008). Again, he€™s probably earned the right to do so, and of course the chance to do a bit of voice-work, especially in old-age, is a fair-enough kinda deal; there€™s no real criticism of Hoffman here, he€™s just one of those actors easing into the swansong (as opposed to, say, Paul Newman, who continued to give compelling performances right until the end.) Also worth noting is that Hoffman did try to make a run of it (pun not intended) on television with HBO€™s horse racing drama, Luck. Unfortunately the show, created by Deadwood€™s David Milch, was cancelled after one season amid €˜animal safety concerns€™.
