Dakota Johnson instantly went from up-and-coming talent to household name seemingly overnight on the back of making her first appearance as Anastasia Steele in the hotly-anticipated Fifty Shades of Grey big screen adaptation in 2015.

Yet, the star would be lying if she said she didn't have conflicting feelings about the whole process of putting together the eventual three-film series, with Johnson herself even noting to Vanity Fair how author E.L. James' creative control led to "a lot of different disagreements" during the shoot.

And highlighting the undoubted mixed emotions the American thespian harbours for her time in the raunchy spotlight, despite noting how she didn't "think it was a matter of regret" when asked if she regretted her part in the project, Johnson would also explain:

"If I had known at the time that's what it was going to be like, I don't think anyone would've done it... It would've been like, 'Oh, this is psychotic.'"

All in all, her summary of "I signed up to do a very different version of the film we ended up making," tells the story of a star who quickly realised she'd made the wrong call with this particular shade of grey.
