10 Actors Who Instantly Regretted Movie Roles
2. Channing Tatum Wanted No Part Of It From The Off - G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra
Returning to those stars who had no choice but to show their face on a movie set they had no desire to be on in the first place, Channing Tatum also learned the hard way that signing a multiple-picture deal with a big studio sometimes isn't all it's cracked up to be.
With the She's the Man and Step Up stripper-turned-actor being attached to a three-film contract with Paramount heading into the critically blasted but financially successful G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, the star was eventually told that if he opted to not appear in the film he would risk legal action.
As Tatum would admit to Howard Stern later down the road:
“I was pushed into doing that movie... The script wasn’t any good … And I didn’t want to do something that I … was a fan of since I was a kid and watched every morning growing up — and didn’t want to do something that was, one, bad and, two, I just didn’t know if I wanted to be GI Joe.”
Despite these reservations, Tatum was met with a response of "You’re doing this or we’re gonna sue you." And so, Tatum sucked it up as Duke before being notably killed off in the follow-up, Retaliation.
