10 Actors Who Keep Getting Miscast
3. Adam Sandler
Two words: Uncut Gems! Every 10 years or so Adam Sandler reminds us that he can actually act. In between, he insists on cranking out awful comedies derivative of his early hits like The Wedding Singer and Billy Madison (but let’s face it, nothing he has done lately can match the unbridled hilarity of his first 5 or 6 films).
Supposedly these days Sandler picks a location to film his next movie, then takes his costars and crew to the location, as well as any family members they want, and the whole production is a working vacation for everyone. That’s cool and all, but who suffers from this arrangement are the viewers who have to watch yet another weak attempt at comedy.
Then from out of nowhere the Safdie brothers, who were responsible for 2017’s Good Time (which pretty much got Robert Pattinson the gig to play Batman) reached out to Sandler to star in their next film, Uncut Gems. The film went on to become a darling among critics and it is considered by many to be the best performance of Sandler’s long career.
After his success this year, it would be nice if Sandler became more picky about the projects he takes on. Hopefully after his performance in Uncut Gems, more visionary directors will ask Sandler to join their films. He could become the Bill Murray of his generation!
