10 Actors Cast In Different Movie Roles Than They Wanted
7. Sebastian Stan - Captain America: The First Avenger
Sticking with the MCU for this next entry, the First Avenger was also a coveted role wanted by some of the most talented stars in Hollywood all those years ago.
It's well-known that eventual Mr. Fantastic cameo star John Krasinski got as far as the costume fitting/testing stage for the Captain America part before Chris Evans was ultimately offered the role. But did you know that the guy who eventually played Steve Rogers' bestest bud also tried to get his hands on the iconic shield, too?
That's right, Sebastian Stan originally auditioned to play Cap in 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger. But after the folks casting that early MCU picture sensed a "bit of darkness there", he was eventually offered the role of Bucky instead - a character that would later go on to become the relentless Winter Soldier.
In hindsight, Stan himself was glad he didn't arrive in the MCU as the most heroic and honourable superhero, eventually noting (via CBR) how he was "extremely grateful" to land the Bucky Barnes part rather than the Cap one.
He felt it was simply "meant to be", and it's admittedly hard to imagine anyone else bringing the deeply complex and eventually guilt-ridden Barnes to life quite as well as Stan.
