10 Actors Who Lost Roles Because They Got Greedy

7. Hilary Duff - Lizzie McGuire

The Lizzie McGuire Movie was one of Disney's first jumps from small screen stars to big screen adventures and they were keen on a sequel following its success... but Hilary Duff left the negotiations due to a lack of a sufficient salary offer.

Duff's mum Susan was quick to talk to the media back in 2003 after Hilary had bowed out of Disney, stating: "Disney thought they’d be able to bully us into accepting whatever offer they wanted to make, and they couldn’t... We walked away from a sequel. They walked away from a franchise".

To take a closer look at the demands, Disney had pitched a sequel movie as well as a follow-up series aimed at an older audience. Duff was demanding $100,000 per-TV episode against the $15,000 she'd earned for the original Disney Channel series, and wanted $5 million for the sequel movie. Disney counter-offered $35,000 an episode and offered $4 million plus a $500,00 bonus depending on the success of the first film, which the Duffs refused and negotiations officially ended.

With the Lizzie McGuire sequel series currently in turmoil over at Disney+, it seems the phantoms of Lizzie's troubled past continue to plague production. Will we ever see that Lizzie sequel series for an older audience? Right now it's pretty unclear.

Chances are I’m watching a movie or replaying Mass Effect rather than doing anything productive.
